Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region offers training sessions developed specifically for individuals with developmental disabilities. Because people with disabilities are often undereducated in the subject of sexuality and sexual health, Planned Parenthood teaches community members with disabilities about hygiene, puberty, how to have healthy relationships, sexual health, victimization, being disabled and LGBTQ+, and other topics. They also teach care providers and parents about how to approach these topics with individuals with disabilities. The education sessions are personalized according to the audience, so they can cover any material that is appropriate or necessary. This resource is aimed at adolescents who want/need to learn more about puberty and sexuality. Because the education sessions are tailored for specific audiences, this resource can really be for anyone. There are costs associated with this resource, and they vary depending on the specific program type. Community events are free to attend. Parent sessions are $15/session. 1-hour professional training is $29, and 2-hour professional training is $49. Half-day or longer professional training sessions cost $150. However, Planned Parenthood also has a financial assistance application (which can be accessed through this contact: firstname.lastname@example.org) if these prices are not accessible. Educational resources offered by Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region are available virtually and in-person.
